Internal Hemorrhoids Can Sometimes Go Unnoticed

Internal hemorrhoids in most cases are unnoticed. Most people with internal hemorrhoids don't even know they have them, but they can still itch and become bleeding internal hemorrhoids. If left untreated they can become 'prolapsed' and get pushed outside the anus, or they can get pushed outside the sphincter muscle of the rectum, the blood supply gets cut off and they become 'strangulated'.

The typical internal hemorrhoids symptom is slight itching or discomfort or possibly bleeding. Because the internal walls of the rectum have no pain receptors, pain is not usually associated.

A picture of internal hemorrhoids is very hard to show, because it is difficult to get a feel for the size and scope of the inflammation. It is not until the hemorrhoid becomes prolapsed or strangulated that we can see a picture from the outside of the rectum to see the full effect.

Internal hemorrhoids treatment is typically done in 2 ways:

1. surgery
2. anti-inflammatory cream.

Anti-inflammatory creams that act as a cure for internal hemorrhoids are typically the most opted-for solution because they help to relieve the discomfort as well as work toward reducing the size and severity of the problem, unlike surgery which can magnify the problem and result in excruciating pain.

Internal hemorrhoids surgery is very intrusive and there are countless examples of people who claim that the problem has been made worse rather than better. The 4 main types of surgery are:

1. Rubber band ligation. A rubber band is placed around the base of the hemorrhoid inside the rectum. The band cuts off circulation, and the hemorrhoid withers away.
2. Sclerotherapy. A chemical solution is injected around the blood vessel to shrink the hemorrhoid.
3. Infrared coagulation. A special device is used to burn hemorrhoidal tissue.
4. Hemorrhoidectomy. Occasionally, extensive or severe internal or external hemorrhoids may require removal by surgery.
